UNITED WE STAND . . . DIVIDED WE FALL?
( A reaction paper )

The Philippines is known to be one of those countries who have powerful allies namely the USA as an example. The foreign relationship between the Philippines and its allies is being used as one of our country’s mean to increase our economic abundance by way of promoting tourism, OFW remittances and investments. And from the words of the central bank governor Armando Tetangco, the economic rise of our allies also is our rise. But what if they fall, does it pertain our economic deterioration?

In some point, the gradual fall of our allies could be used by the Philippines to step up and take its chances to be the provider and leave its parasitic role on its allies. Yes I find the Philippine economy to be parasitic as it pre-dominantly depends on what their allies could give them, not on what the Philippines could give on their allies. On the other hand, if the fall of these allied countries continues to gain economic crisis, we could also be receiving some shrapnel and impact. We have been always in the tail of the domino so the fall of our head is also somehow our fall. Why? Simply because of the fact that these countries were our top investors, in these countries we have OFW remittances that will surely depreciate due to what is considered to be economic crisis, and these countries are our top salesmen talking about our tourism industry. So we could not surely say that we will fall dividedly.

Their fall is not so good to pay attention to but if it is my opinion to be heard, I could capitalized their fall to unveil independence and also to step up as the country to depend upon and not the dependent one. We could invest in them and we can even lend them funds, yes we can do that if we try to consider our resources and our capacity in terms if monetary issues. But first we should settle on the top of our priority on the issues inside our country. Let’s love and help our own first before we could extend our hands to others for us to be an effective aide to their problems.
